Skills for Success Workplace Practitioner

The Skills for Success model is for all Canadians who need to improve their foundational and transferable skills. The model responds to the needs of the current and future labour market.

As part of the Workplace Connections Project, funded in part by the Government of Canada's Adult Learning, Literacy and Essentials Skills Program, and to support sustainability of the Skills for Success across sectors and across Canada, Workplace Education Manitoba will be recruiting and training participants to complete the Skills for Success Workplace Practitioner Certification Program.

Who can apply to become a Certified Skills for Success Practitioner?

This program is for individuals and for organizations who wish an individual to participate and become certified.

- SME's - business owners or designates who have HR or training functions

- HR professionals

- Consultants

- Workplace Trainers

Graduates of the Skills for Success Workplace Practitioner Certificate Program

will benefit by being able to:

  • Understand aspects of the Skills for Success Framework which is considered foundational for teaching skills identified as necessary for success at work in the 21st Century.

  • Build your own competency in skills related to the Skills for Success Framework.

  • Co-facilitate learning by adapting your training, speaking and materials to specific audiences.

  • Lead the conversation in your workplace and network related to Skills for Success.

  • Apply content from the Relational Skills component of the program, in whole or in part, to deliver customized training in workplaces.

This program is build around the new Skills for Success Framework

designed to highlight the foundational and functional skills and abilities required to best serve the educational needs of learners, to support optimal learning, and to enhance organizations overall

As this program is funded in part by the Government of Canada's Adult Learning, Literacy and Essential Skills Program, tuition costs for the pilot cohort are covered.

Details of the Program

The program overall will take about 300 hours to complete over 12 months, and consists of:

  • 6 hours to complete the program application and interview

  • 100 hours of class time (blended live, on demand webinar and online self-study)

  • 20 hours reading and homework

  • 10 hours of meetings, support webinars and general communication

  • 10 hours of exam preparation

  • 10 hours to write a 100 question, open book, multiple choice exam

  • 24 hours of Masterclasses (3 x 1 day events offered online and/or live)

  • 100 hours of practicum including paid (flat fee applies, with some conditions, paid to trainee by Workplace Education Manitoba) delivery of the Relational Skills Program to 3 workplaces

  • 20 hours for admin, invoicing, workplace contact generation, reporting and evaluation activities

As part of the Practitioner Certification Program

Practitioners also receive

  • Certificate in Relational Skills

    Participants who complete this program also achieve a Certificate in Relational Skills and have the ability to deliver customized relational skills to organizations across Canada.

  • Program Materials

    All core program materials are provided and participants will be sent an optional/additional reading list as well

  • Relational Skills Trainer Kit

    Program graduates will receive final print ready version of the Relational Skills Trainer's Kit for delivery in the workplace.
